Angelo Ashmore
Senior Developer Experience Engineer
Honolulu, Hawaii, United States
I design and build developer tools: SDKs, CLIs, and documentation.
The packages I maintain are open source, and downloaded over 800,000 times a
week.
Lately, I've focused on making them usable by AI agents: API shape, command
names, error messages, and help text.
Work history
Prismic, Senior Developer Experience Engineer (2021–Present)
- Proposed, designed, and built the Prismic CLI, now the primary way to
build with Prismic. I own its command structure, output, error messages, and
help content. Built for developers and AI agents equally.
- Built an eval suite measuring whether an AI agent can use the CLI:
correctness, and cost in time and money. Runs weekly in CI.
- Designed and maintain Prismic's SDKs and framework integrations. Over
800k weekly downloads. Prismic's Next.js expert.
- Open sourced the general-purpose tools that came out of building
Prismic, including imgix-url-builder, a typed imgix URL builder (over 200k
weekly downloads), and r19, a type-safe RPC library built for Slice
Machine (over 40k weekly downloads).
- Own Prismic's documentation. Rearchitected it for marketers and
developers, built the Next.js site, and designed the content to serve both
people and AI agents.
- Led a team building client websites with Gatsby, React, and Prismic,
working closely with graphic designers. I proposed work to clients and
internally, and led the technical discussions behind the company's
decisions.
- Built the agency's standard website architecture: a shared starter and
reusable page sections instead of full-page templates. Sections let
developers build in parallel and let clients compose their own pages,
reducing build time.
- Clients included Hawaii National Bank, L&L Hawaiian Barbecue, Belt
Collins Hawaii, and Peter Vincent Architects.
- Open sourced the utilities we built, including the Prismic integration
for Gatsby that became the official integration and led to my role at
Prismic.
